It’s not the way you look, it’s the way you love yourself.

Know thyself, love thyself, and treat thyself. Self love is the cure to self hate. Once you accept and love all that you are, your weaknesses no longer matter. You start to focus on your strengths and value your worth. But if you put your self worth in the hands of someone else, you immediately lose it. You’re admitting that their opinion of you is more important than your opinion of yourself. We are processors of life and we must not turn over our control to other people’s approval.

”I am new here. To this self love. To this whole love. To this not changing for anyone, not apologizing to anyone, sort of kind and pure love. And I am never leaving." - My Heart is overflowing by Alison Malee

Most people are empty with no sense of self. They don’t know who they are let alone accept who they are trying to be. It’s hard for them to make decisions on their own without the feedback of others. We are choice making individuals and our days are made up of decisions. You can’t help who you are but you can take ownership of who you are. Instead of blaming other people and your circumstances, take responsibility for your actions. Make good choices so that you can later feel good about yourself and the life you’ve created. Our thoughts create life. The way we think creates who we are. You have the choice to love yourself and carry yourself the way you want to.

Know Your Value

If you truly valued yourself, you wouldn’t surround yourself around negative people. You don’t love yourself if you continue to put yourself in certain situations. Negative people who are constantly talking about everyone else are also in fact, talking about you. When people show you who they are, believe them. Don’t be on the receiving end of those types of people. You have to then make adjustments to everything that is revealed to you. If someone is critical of who you are, it’s your job to show them this is who you are and you won’t change for them. Not everyone will accept you; not everyone has good taste. Learn to remove people who clutter up your life and no longer serve a purpose. They don’t allow you to grow. What you have in your environment is a reflection of your consciousness.

”Love yourself so much that when someone treats you wrong, you recognize it." - Rena Rose

Love yourself independent from someone loving you.

Everyday is a work in progress. Work everyday towards a better version of yourself and you can do this separate from other people loving you. Too often enough we value other people’s opinions more than our own. Love thy neighbor but also love thyself. God has a purpose for you. If you put him first, then through his grace you can learn to love yourself and then others. Self love isn’t the way you choose to dress or what you buy for yourself, it’s how you treat others because it’s a reflection of how you view yourself.
